On February 21, 2017, for the second consecutive year, the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies and B'nai B'rith International jointly held an international conference on Strategic Challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean. The event, which took place at the Begin-Sadat Center, involved the participation of experts from Greece, Russia, Britain, Turkey, Albania, the US, and Israel.
Shortly after the US presidential election in November, experts met the BESA Center to analyze the reasons for, and international implications of, Donald Trumpโs triumph, and to dissect the โYom Kippurโ of the liberal elite and media.
In June, experts from Belgium, Bahrain, France, Germany, India, the UK, US and Israel convened at the BESA Center and at Haifaโs National Security Studies Center for a two-day international conference to study developments in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf.
Lectures delivered (in Hebrew) at a June conference on โThe Day After Abbas: Wither the Palestinian Authority?โ The conference dealt with the expected battle for succession in the PA, Israelโs diplomatic dilemmas, and likely international scenarios.
February international conference on โStrategic Challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean,โ with participants from Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Turkey, NATO, the US and Israel. The conference was jointly convened by the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies and B'nai B'rith International, with the participation of leaders of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. The Greek Minister of Defense, Panos Kammenos, delivered a comprehensive and very forceful articulation of Greeceโs view of the region.
November 2015 strategic dialogue with the Aspen Institute (Germany) focusing on Israel-Germany defense and scientific cooperation, responses to terrorism, and perspectives on security challenges stemming from the Middle East.
October 2015 strategic dialogue with colleagues from the political, military and academic sectors in Australia, focusing on the strategic outlook in the Indo-Pacific and Middle East, nuclear proliferation, homeland security, asymmetric threats (including terrorism and cyber warfare), defense industry cooperation, bilateral trade, and more.
